Default Is this RJ11/RJ14 wire okay? Just did a stealth Install

I just did a stealth install and hit all my wires up to my visor mount. I got a RJ11/RJ14 wire from Radio Shack. Is this okay? I know people say RJ11, but this has both numbers listed.

    Thanks!

No idea, RJ11 is used for single line phones and RJ14 for dual line, I guess at worst you might have some redundancy but don't see it doing any harm. Have you turned the V1 on yet with your new install? If it lights up ok I would guess you should be problem free.

Yeah, I turned it on and it looks to be fine. I haven't actually drove the car with it yet though.

Does anyone know for sure if the RJ11/RJ14 wire will be okay?

I see no reason why it wouldn't work. RJ14 just has a few extra wires in it, but RJ14 can do everything RJ11 does. The reverse doesn't work, but also doesn't apply to the V1.

I just looked at the ends of the new wire and the end of the old v1 coiled cord, and they look exactly the same. Is it the ends on the RJ14 that is different, or is it the internal wiring.

RJ14 has two more live wires, IIRC the outer two pairs, while in RJ11 the pins are either absent or the internal wiring is absent.

You're probably fine if it's working. I tried about a dozen phone line cords (with 4 wires connected and looked the same as the V1 cords) and none of them worked; that's including a 12' GE one that I bought.

All of those did not work at all --- there was no lit display appearing on the V1.
