Why not just fix the cigarette lighter in her car? It may be something as simple as a blown fuse which could easily be replaced in the fusebox. The owner's manual to her car should tell you which one it is. If it is the simple blade-type fuse you can just look at it and tell if the connection in the middle is contiguous or not. She could also just have an object or some kind of gunk in the bottom which could remove or cleaned out after removing power from the outlet. Replacing the entire outlet is not that difficult if it comes to that as there are only two wires to connect and they are easy to get from Radioshack. I am also sure your girlfriend would appreciate the use of the outlet again especially if she needs to charge her cellular phone while in the car.

why not just buy her her own V1 and you could hardwire that one? It would show how much you truly love her! You never know, it may take the pplace of an engagement ring!
