Default Mercedes SLK r170 - Anyone have V1 and this car?

Hi, (PICS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED)
I was wondering if anyone on this forum has a r170 SLK or r170 SLK for that matter. I have a SLK32 AMG and was curious as to other SLK owners installs of their V1's. What did you find was the best placement etc. Also any r170 owners with experience of hardwiring the V1 through the plastic above the sun visors?
    Thanks in advance!

I've got an SLK320 with a hardwired V1, remote display, and remote audio adapter.

The hardwire kit is stashed behind the little cubby hole in front of the gear lever. I ran a new wire to the fuse block to power it, from the "key on" (position 2) lug so it comes on automatically when the car is started. The main power out from that goes to the remote audio adapter, which is mounted inside that little cubby hole. I had to drill a hole for this part of the wiring, but it's in the top of the cubby hole and not visible. The accessory out from the hardwire kit goes to the remote display, mounted on top of the steering column with a couple pieces of 3M Dual-Lock. The power out from the remote audio adapter is run inside the dash and up through the A-pillar to the V1 itself, which is in the suction cup mount to the right of the rear-view mirror as high as possible.

I added in the remote audio adapter so that I could control volume, mode, mute, and power without having to reach up, which is very conspicuous to do when the top is down. The remote display is easy to see. The V1 is on the passenger side so I can use the driver-side sun visor without blocking it.

A good howto on running wiring up the A-pillar

    Thanks!

I would say the CB antenna has pretty good reception. Don't have any figures to give you, as I haven't had the CB that long, and I've only made one road trip with it, but I hear truckers all over I-285, I-85, and I-75 around Atlanta during the day, and in Florida in the evenings.
