Anyone still running v1.7? i have the opportunity to by one pretty cheap so is it worth buying rather than dropping 450 on the newest model...

A few people still run 1.7 and swear by it. Run the serial at valentineone.com and see if it's up to date on radar. Call valentine research and ask if the serial number is clear (not stolen). How much can you get it for?

The only thing V1.8 is going to have that V1.7 isn't is better laser detection. They may also have sped up the sweep on 1.8, but 1.7 is still going to be a decent detector for radar.

In addition to more laser sensitivity, I find 1.8 to be more sensitive on 35.5 GHz Ka radar. Other than that they are very close.
