Default Anybody have a V1.8 with 3.864 firmware yet?

I don't know if anybody posted anything about this yet so here it is.

I was checking out valentine1.com and I noticed that if you have a 3.864 or later, there is an option after the little "u" now. It is a little "u" with a line over it and it turns Euro X band on or off.

I guess Euro X band is from 9.875 GHz - 9.925 GHz but I also heard it could be 9.41 GHz or 9.90 GHz.

Its funny how they spent time perfecting Euro mode, but yet... they sure as heck wont ship it over there.

Instead, the poor RD users overseas have to Ebay their V1 for prices that can reach well over the initial value, when the unit was new.

With that said, its always nice to see VR working on the performance and or adding more features to their unit.

So I guess one very common question will be, Should I upgrade? I just got the 3.863 a few weeks ago. Did VR change anything else or just add the Euro X Band toggle switch?

I'm sending my baby in for a checkup tomorrow because it's been acting sketchy as hell. Do you think I should have them update to 3.864 and post my impressions?

Do you guys actually have this many problems with these or do you just use it as an excuse to send it in to get an upgrade done?

I only ask because it seems like any time I read here where a new upgrade is available there then seems to be a corresponding surge in people having problems that need to suddenly be sent in to have checked out or fixed?

Oh yea! I would love to see if 3.864 has anything new other than the added toggle switch.

    IMO a waste of money.

No, we don't -- we're just extremely curious what's new.

If you guys knew that Bel/Whistler/Escort released some new firmware, I bet everyone would be equally as curious and wanting to send their detectors in for upgrade.

I'm usually hesitant to send mine in for an upgrade unless I can be sure that it is going to actually make it better for what I use it for. As it stands right now, I'm still at 3.813, and have been since I got the thing in early 2004. I just sent it in for a checkup because after I got my wife her V1, I noticed it going off to things mine ignored. Turns out they had to replace a board...but you gotta remember...this has stayed in my car for 4 years, from -20 degree Michigan weather when I lived there to 105 degree Texas weather where I live now. The only time it's NOT been in my car is when I take it in a company car, or a rental. It's on switched power, so for everyone that thinks that it's bad to put your detectors on switched power, 4 years is not bad.

    I stayed at ver. 3.813...

I also work in I.T. and don't use Vista. I didn't use XP until 2004.

    That is a great news!
Looks like VR listened to European users and finnaly incorporated X-band in EURO-mode.

I would REALLY like to know which X-band did they add in EURO-mode?
    1) X-9,410GHz-EURO
    2) X-9.960GHz-EURO
    3) X-10,525GHz-USA/EURO
    4) X-10,600GHz-EURO
On first X-band was the old Multanova 4 P,on second X-band was Mesta 206,but none of this radars are used anymore.
