    Default V1 3.864 arrived

Programmed it X off, PoP off, Ka more responsive, 20 sec mute on K band, rear K band muted, unmute at 6 LEDs.. tried mounting it like I had the 9500i above my RVM, but because of the bracket, my mirror blocks the strength indicator when it's like that. So I'm going to go back and forth between using the visor mount with it sitting just above the RVM (sticking out further though so nothing is blocked) and under the RVM in the center of my windshield. Using the visor mount, it is not touching the windshield... will this make any noticeable difference on performance? Looking forward to testing it out and posting my experiences.

No difference in performance at least on radar. I started using the visor mount when my very old suction cups failed in cold weather.

I did the visor mount when I drove the Uhaul from MI to TX. Worked good for radar, and I just did what the truckers did. No laser, but it saved me from a few radar traps around the state borders. We made pretty good time...at times were able to keep it up around 75-80. Yeah, I ran through a lot of gas in a fully loaded 17' box truck pulling my Impala with all 4 wheels off, but it was worth it to make the trip in good time rather than putzin' at 55.

PoP was enabled when I received it. Just found an excuse to make a 70 mile roundtrip to Beaumont and back, and my initial impressions:

I encountered no speedtraps or actual police radar, but I for a V1 I am amazed at how little it falsed in A mode in the city. I almost am wondering whether K band detection is faulty on my particular unit or not because I would have to pull into a parking lot for it to start alerting.. then of course it would pick up up to 5 or 6 K band bogeys. I switched it into Logic mode once this happened and it worked beautifully. Couldn't believe how quiet I was able to make it... as long as I'm just paranoid about the K band issue and all is well, great first impressions.

I wouldn't worry about K band not working. If you are worried, just hunt out any store that has auto doors and you can find out.

By the way, I wouldn't listen to what all these V1 haters say. Yes, the V1 may be more chatty than an x50 or 9500i but this issue is overly exaggerated.

If you have X turned off like most people do, the only time it would really false is if you are around a retail store/gas station part of the city (because of door openers). When I am in industrial parts of the city, I never notice these issues with K band because there are no auto doors.

I feel the same exact way with my 3.863, the way everyone talks about all the supposed falses, got me thinking i had received a faulty unit? I am fully convinced this isn't the case. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, my new V1 is ALOT better in finding the Ka 34.7 around here then my 8500 X50 ever was!
