To make it little more interesting, during the drive home going north from Atlantic City, around Bass River area, I ran into a state trooper coming from out from a trooper station.

I was on the left line going about 10-12 miles over the limit in 65 mph zone and he was coming up fast behind me. Valentine never made a sound but I was going to change to the right line anyway. He drove pass me until I couldn't see him with the traffic. Later I saw him slowly drove onto the median, also, no Radar signal.

Again, I don't know if any of the troopers I ran into have their radar or laser on but I'm little worry if the valentine is working.

Just go to a place where its known for Door Openers (Wal-Mart or CVS, etc.) so that way you know if it your V1 is working or not.

Many LEOs in my town do not use their Radar that much for some reason even State Troopers here and I'm always thinking my V1 not working but its because they don't turn it on often. I only run into Radar maybe every 3 weeks against Troopers on Highway (14 miles back and forth).

If you got you V1 a month ago then you should be OK otherwise your very unlucky to have a "defective" unit. And you know of course take it in.

Recently I drive by FHP troopers all the time with nothing. They must be preoccupied doing other things. It does happen. So far nothing you have said sounds out of the ordinary.

Ditto for me. Going out I-20 towards Alabama from GA, I've seen empty police cars parked in the median (usually between an exit ramp and the hwy). Sometimes they even will leave the radar unit on - constant K. Either the LEO is taking an afternoon nap in the back seat or they just park them there as a deterrent.

He could have been using IO at the traffic going in the opposite direction, wouldn't make any sense for him to of waited until you were at a direct right angle to him before IOing you, radar or laser neither one can determine your speed from a direct right angle since your always going to be at relatively the same distance from the source, they work by determining how rapidly you move either toward or away from the source, not across it at a direct right angle.

Or possibly you hit your brakes when you past and noticed him there, maybe his well calibrated eyeball didn't think you were speeding till he seen you alert him with your brake lights, thus giving him enough interest in you to capture at least your slow down speed after already passing him.

Sometimes these late or no warning alerts just happen like this, don't forget, theres a human element at work here operating the radar unit, anything is possible. I certainly wouldn't use this one incident to worry something might be wrong with your detector, its a normal thing to worry about, but these things do happen like this often and its usually no flaw on the detectors part when it happens unless it happens to you like this all the time.

I will tell you that NJ SP are experts with IO X and Laser. I rarely if ever see them drive around with CO. They are some of the best in the business. I know.

My only theory is if the durango does have i/o then maybe he didn't turn it on until I'd passed him when he was aiming at another vehicle. There was light traffic during 10PM on the parkway and I was on the local lines. Maybe he took speed on someone else. If that's the case, then i/o is very deadly. Since there is no warning at all.

I'll agree. NJ is a tough state, the troopers are VERY good.

I had this same thing happen a couple of days ago in sunny AZ. Comming from Sierra Vista heading to Tucson, about to jump on I-10. I pass a DPS that is parked in the meadian with the nose of his car pointed across the road. As soon as I'm directly in front of him I got 4-5 bars of KA, and then it was immeadiatly gone. I have a V1 3.863, about a month old aswell.
