    Default Strange V1 Issue

I have a 1 month old V1. The amazing stories I could already tell about this machine are building quickly.

I had a strange incident recently.

I noticed on a regular 400 mile commute that the unt was not giving me the walmart beeps at those locations were I drive right passed the stores while on the hwy. I was thinking..uhh ohhh..... broken already.... I went into a strip mall where it goes nuts.............and nothing but the strongest signals alarmed. wellllllll..........

Today I got into my car to leave the office and the engine turned slowly a moment then started as usual. It has ALWAYS started instantly, so off I go to the parts store for a battery check. Battery checked out "BAD". I put in the new battery, the car started fine and within minutes I noticed the V1 start acting normal. Could a bad battery (less than 100% electrical system) cause this. Is the unit glitchy? I always turn the unit on after I start the car. could I be using too sensitive a circuit? I found some taped off wires (factory tape-off) within the dash and checked them for switched/polarity status. I dont really know their source or intended use. Any thoughts/suggestions?

If your alternator is working correctly, I would say no - even if your battery is weak, the alternator should be supplying enough voltage. I bet that you were able to use your radio even with the dead battery while the car was running.

Where did you mount the V1, is it level? What mode is it in? A, L (big) or L (little)?

Most walmart stores now use infrared sensors not the old microwave sensors which does not trigger your V1 to go off.

    Indeed.

I noticed my local wal mart no longer sets my V1 off either. By the way, I think they only made the conversions in my area sometime in mid 2007.

During my first few months of V1 ownership every walmart would do the trick.

You are correct, all else worked, radio etc...

The term "walmart beep" is generic. I go passed small towns where there are many stores around the walmarts. They do set off the V1 due to me being in A mode as I slip thru these areas in a minute or two. No need to adjust V1, I just do the PSL. but, over the weekend I did not get the weaker x and k's. I do this trip twice a week - about 900 miles round trip and very familiar.
After the battery change all seems okay. verified again this morning. I am still puzzled as to the problem that did exist over the weekend. The alternator checked out fine only the battery failed.

More comments please..... I am worried that I may get "caught" if It happens again "without my knowledge".....help?
