    Default Frequent laser falsing

What's normal laser falsing and what's not normal? How to tell if mine needs a check up? I'm getting daily laser falsing these days even during the day, especially if the oncoming traffic has HID headlights.

I haven't heard about HID causing laser falses. I do know that red neon signs will, Tahoe/Trailblazer 3rd brake light will, and the I-Pass/Easy Pass/Open Road Tolling system will. The ONLY time I've encountered laser it has been because of the aforementioned reasons. It's only happened a hand full of times. I would be slightly worried about daily laser falses.

Sounds like I need to send it back for a check up. Do they do free firmware upgrade if the V1 is still in warranty? I have 3.863 now. Might as well take the opportunity to upgrade the firmware.

BTW, does anyone have laser falsing problems with Infiniti HID and LED brake lights?

Yes, Infinity brake lights will do it to. You should be covered as long as it's still under warranty. I wouldn't send it in tomorrow though. Wait until a few people, more knowledgeable than me, chime in.

Some Infinity's have the Active Cruise Control. It uses a Laser that the Valentine One loves to pick up.

I've only had a couple of laser alerts (false, AFAIK) and I've had my V1 for about a month now.

If you're getting laser falses every day, there is most definitely a problem.

I don't suppose your car has laser-guided cruise control or anything like that?

Whoa, you're saying that a toll transponder causes laser falses?

    How is that possible?

Update: Never mind, I found the answer here. It's not the transponder itself that causes the false alert, but the lasers that the toll authority uses to determine which type of vehicle you have.

My guess is that your unit is functioning normally. Several Infinity models use adaptive cruise control and lidar is the ranging/speed sensing tool that drives their system. Idiot drivers in my area frequently leave this unit activated even though they are in stop and go city traffic. You can recognize what's going on by noting that there's an Infinity either behind you or coming at you (they don't transmit to the rear) and by the regular pulse/off/pulse cadence of the alarm.

Somebody else mentioned the neon trigger effect and the Trailblazer/Yukon brake light effect.

HID lights will not activate the unit, but a dirty windshield can create a prism effect and cause some falsing.

Live with it a little while longer and watch for the situations mentioned before sending it in.
