Hey fellas Gotta Question, I live in pa and was told in Nj Laser is used. Now i know the V1 has laser detection, but i want to know if your hit with laser are you allready caught (Meaning When My V1 Starts Going Crazy) and *Beep* or when the V1 goes off i have enought time to slow down? I know laser is dead on and im guessing if they got a read on you your caught or am i wrong?

In almost all cases, when your V1 alerts to laser, it means you are busted.

if you have a rabbit, you can pick up the scatter and slow down. If you get shot, the V1 alert that you have a fine on your way

So there no chance of even slowing down i guess unless someone is in front of me, and i might get a scatter. how do you know if its a scatter or a direct hit? Also if there's no chance of beating the Laser whats the point of having it lol i thought maybe it would give some time to slow down but it dont. O well atleast i got the Best Radar Detector i want to invest into a laser Jammer but i think they are ilegal in the state of Pa? Also why im on the subject, If i had a jammer (Blinder M45, i think is the best?) and i get hit by laser , it Jams him, i slow down , wouldnt he know i have a Jammer since he can't get a read on me? Or when i jam him Reduce Too PSL and then turn it off and pray he dont relise i have a Jammer?

    1. The RD will not know the difference between scatter and a direct hit, so your awareness is the only way to get a read on if it was you that was hit or the other dude or dudette.
    2. Laser detection is very overblown, IMO, however they all have it to keep up with the Jones's.
    3. As of now, there seems to be no known laws in PA specifically prohibiting laser jammers:

    4. Here are the latest laser jammer test results, however you might want to wait for the very soon upcoming GOL testing before making a decision on which jammer to buy:

    5. Your instincts are correct. The object is to jam him, slow down quickly, then turn off the jammer and let him get your speed. Even in states where jammers are legal, it is not a good idea to piss LEOs off. That would probably be the quickest way to get them banned.

I would wait for the new GOL results. I would also pick a jammer that does well against guns used in NJ or wait until PA gets laser and get a jammer that works best against the specific type of laser gun that will be used in PA.

Flashing blue lights behind you is a pretty good indicator it was a direct hit.

I live in GA where laser is pretty prevalent, I get advanced warning ~ 50% of the time. If cars are in front of me getting shot, I usually get advanced notice, even when 10+ cars are between me and the laser. In the cases where scatter has been picked up, the warning distance is usually quite far. It seems you get no prior warning, or a long prior warning, not much in between.

Northern NJ, the turnpike, and the northern half of the GSP is where laser is used the most...otherwise its just i/o and co/o X for state troopers and X, K, and Ka for local cops

Take a look at some of the hobbyist videos on laser jammers.

Note that in some cases, it takes much longer than the "1/3 second" to lock-on to a vehicle - no rhyme or reason, it just sometimes happens, and the delay isn't necessarily "eyeblink," either, but can sometimes be upwards of two, or even three seconds.

Can you count on this for "protection?"

No, I would not say so - I would say that to count on chance, in this fashion, is to be too, too optimistic in your hopes - but in light of how frequently this happens (and also in light of the fact that error readings are often produced even when there's no obvious reason and without an active jammer present), is it *possible* for you to "outbrake" a LIDAR trap, particularly if you were warned via scatter/reflections from other vehicles?

    Certainly.

It's just not prudent to count on it, that's all.

    ---

Laser protection should be viewed as a complete tactical package.

First line should be proper defenses, and almost the only surefire way to do so is the use of a good active jammer, properly set-up for your vehicle.

Second, one should insure early detectability to even further bias the odds in your favor. Even the best jammer and most ideal setup can encounter potential malfunction or simply a setup so biased/constructed/effected that it effects the unlikely PT. Think of it this way - would you rather block a punch, or not be there at all? This is why a good detector setup is still vital (RADAR regardless) in a tactical sense.

Third, consider any and all passive countermeasures, and how their use can compliment the active countermeasure(s) that you have in-place.
