Default why do some people with a rd get a ticket?

because they just don't pay attention. the other day i made a roadtrip with my friend who knows about the v1. since he was driving, he asked me to bring my v1. no problem. on the way back, we're cruising on the freeway and he was speeding, we're in wide open bfe kansas and the v1 goes brap one time and quits.

this is the guy who asked me to change my v1 setting back to A (i keep it in big L) and turn X-band back on....just in case. i look at him, wait awhile, then i say "you know that one beep we just heard? you know that could be a cop ahead way down the road using instant-on. look around, we're in the middle of nowhere; no false alarms here."

well, ok. let me go ahead and slow down to just about the 70 psl. about 30 seconds later, full blast K-band state trooper rolling from the opposite direction.

look in the rv mirror, trooper turns on the overhead, hits the median, makes a u-turn. now he wants to be all concerned, "wtf, i wasn't speeding...." turns out the cruiser is just doing the rounds up and down that section of the highway so we had to endure the infrequent braps from the rear for the next 10 minutes.

so he's a good guy and knows his stuff, i think sometimes you roll with the v1, because it's so good and it falses more than some, you maybe get a little lax? lol

That was great that you recognized that alert as IO.

Very good post, and one that deserves to be read by everyone, in the General section, instead of buried here.

"Detector desensitization" is a cardinal sin of EVERY detector user, no matter how experienced.

Certainly, the V1 carries with it extra risk in this respect, due to its outstanding sensitivity and its specific tactical purpose as a "complete situational awareness" instrument, which relies upon the end-user as the ultimate final filter.

Still, this post deserves to be seen by ALL who use detectors.

Any RD are useless at night when there are not traffic around on Highway against I/O Radar Guns so that might be a huge reason why people ticket also.

Thats a very good point. It is also why, when driving at night and there is very light to almost nonexistent traffic, I always keep my speed well within 10 of the PSL.

I kind of had the same situation. I was on a long road trip and I had just stopped at a rest stop to take a bathroom break. I start going and am about to get to the 10-15 over the psl and I see this car way back in my rearview mirror. For some odd reason my cop intuition that seemed to come with the V1 when I got it told me that it could be a cop. Well I decided to follow it just to make sure. I slowed down enough that the car could catch up to me. Sure enough it was a state trooper. He shot me and I assume saw my V1 light up like a christmas tree because he followed me for 30 MINUTES, using I/O. So I eventually just turned it off until he pulled the side of the road. But out in the middle of Texas there aren't much false alarms....

But still good story, should go in the General RD section I think too.

Some cops are just dicks. There's no need for him to do that. I've had them do that before to, and they ride on your ass way too close just to piss you off. It's really dangerous.

I had 2 LEOs in one car sit there and blast me with I/O K band over and over again while sitting at a light. I thought it was kind of childish.

More like very childish. Those are the guys that got picked on in high school and so now they become cops and they take it out on people.
