Default In L mode K band mute not working correctly?

So it's been a while since I've posted here. I've got my V1 hardwired in my integra with a custom mute switch, and I've really enjoyed it.

The only thing that has me worried is its alerting on the K band. Around town I travel in the large "L" mode and it from time to time It alerts me late on K band. Example: I'll be driving around and I"ll have nothing registering on the detector...then BAM...full strength K band. So if I'm driving by one of those static signs that tell your speed, it doesn't really alert me until it's full strength.

I thought the mute feature is setup so it stays quiet and wont alert on K band for 30 seconds OR if the signal strength goes up over 4 bars? Isn't that right?

BTW I'm looking for a case for the V1. I end up taking it down in a lot of sketchy neighborhoods, and I just need something thats small that holds just the detector. V1s case is nice...40+ for a case is too rich for my blood.

Yeah as far as I know that's right.

What are your exact settings and what version? 3.824 has automute problems.
You are describing how mine is set up 7 b E F arrows down full automute that will still break to full volume before passing a speed sign.
If you want four bars you need to drop E and F.
Camera cases make great RD cases.

Automute only works in a logic mode, preferably small logic (l) not advanced logic (L) so you can see the LED's light up on contact, and adjust your own muted K band volume.
When using advanced logic mode (L) automute is working you just don't know it because all the LED's and both volume knobs are disabled until you break a strength or time threshold, making it unknown how long the thresholds have been in process.
    (A) mode overrides K band automute.

I believe you answered your own question.

You are only getting full strength K band alerts because L mode is blocking all weak K band alerts. If you changed the V1 settings, then it would take more than 30 seconds to see any K band alert. So maybe if you stick around those speed signs long enough from a far distance, you'll bypass the 30 second limit and begin seeing low strength K band alerts.

But yes, this should cause you concern. As you see, Big L mode should only be used in dense commercial zones and not on the open highways.
