    Default Tough Decision

Hello all. I have been reading like crazy to make a decision on a RD. I started off looking at a low end Pro 78 or Bell 940. But the more I read
I decided I needed to step up to the big boys. You guys had me picking the V1 over the 9500i. But just when I am ready to make the order a friend offered the 9500i NIB for 40 less than the V1.

    What do you guys think?
At this point I think I need to grab it.
Anyone care to talk me off the ledge?

Well I can only say this:

If you drive more in the city then the 9500i will be an excellent choice. If you drive more highway/freeway then the V1 will give you great sensitivity.

Vice versa is the V1 may drive you insane in the city with its excellent sensitivity as the 9500i may leave you feeling like your missing out on detection on the highways. So it really comes down to how you feel about each and if the $40 less works out then I say go for it!

It is a tough choice though so good luck choosing

9500I, its a better RD and you save some $$$'s now.

What build date is the 9500I? you may not have a warranty by buying it from a friend, so it may be worth the extra $$ getting a new V1 or 9500I.

Ether way your going to be happy. And an X2 to Ace_Racer's comments.

9500CI BUT if you do not want to spend that much then the new V1's are pretty damn quiet

Sorry I drive alot of both City and Highway.

Not sure what the date is. When I let him know he will place the order and get it in a few days.

the v1 i just ordered is a TAD bit quieter than my older version one, meaning instead of the 9+ bogeys it picks up in a town nearby, it only grabs like 6-7, improvement, but def not quiet

honestly you have to try them both, i've owned both and they are both top notch players, the 9500i is eerily quiet, to the point i didn't think it was working :P, but ofcourse it was

coming down to those two, it's personal preference, so drive around with your friend with his 9500i, and see how you like it, and perhaps if you know someone with a v1, do the same

I own both and they are both ridiculously great! I'd have to say that I slightly prefer my 9500i, but just barely. In full disclosure, I live in an area with a ridiculous amount of false alarms, so this is a big factor for me, which may not apply to you. Either way, they're both awesome.

It depends on your RD needs on whether or not the 9500i is a "better RD". If, your driving the highway, I would give the V1 the edge (the arrows rule). The 9500i rule's the city (if you absolutely can't stand false alerts), although, I think the V1 gets a bad rap in the city with it's advanced programming. Bottomline, gauge your driving, if you tend toward interstate driving, go V1.

You can always try a V1 for 30 days and return it if you like the 9500i better. Also, you can get a refurbished V1 for $349 from Valentine Research. It's supposedly a returned unit that had been checked out by VR. It'll have the latest of everything and it still comes with a full warranty.
