Default Could I avoid buying a jammer....

With a V1, Flat black paint coat, and Veil G4 on my headlights, and no front plate? Right now a PL3 gets around 1100 feet base PT on my car with untreated headlights and a glossy paint coat with front chrome (1996 Honda Civic DX Blue)

Has anyone ever tested something this extreme?

You can avoid buying a jammer if ... you don't speed

Seriously, you *might* be able to have a much better chance with that combo, but it's always going to be a matter of how close before he hits you and how fast your going from your initial alert.

i wouldnt chance it tbh. ive taken hits with my LPP off (back in the days i was more paranoid  ) and theres no way id have braked in time . the V1 only went off for a second.

then again, its a silver car with no passive CMs. still, theres no peace of mind like having a good jammer watching the road ahead

The problem is that he'll eventually get a lock on you anyways, and if the V1 doesn't pick up the LIDAR (for whatever reason) and you don't notice the cop in time, you'll still get hit with a ticket without being able to do anything about it.

I honestly think his specific setup is good enough that it will protect him well against distant-LIDAR encounters and might buy him a second or two at close-distance too.

with veil and laser shield and a v1 with the flat black paint i would say u would ok from above 600-700 or so feet..but for real laser protection u need an active jammer

If you routinely face LIDAR threats, a good active jammer is your ONLY choice.

Yes, you can spend money on passive countermeasures, and then spend some more time to make your vehicle "more laser-stealthy" (and remember, time *is* money, no matter how you cut it), but whether or not the end-effect will prove, in any way, effective against the multitude of potential encounter scenarios is an unknown.

In this manner, I do not believe that pursuing such extremes of passive protection is either productive or cost-effective.

The potential for that "one lucky PT" to totally ruin not only your day, but your driving record (and thus insurance rating) for YEARS to come is just too big of a chance to take.

Bank the money, and go for proper active jamming, FIRST, if you *routinely* and *consistently* see LIDAR enforcement.

I think that you would do well with that set up if you picked up a cheap zr3. I have seen a couple go for about $250.

Does Nacogdoches have Lidar Guns or you travel to Houston alot (On 59) where you encounter alot of Laser Threats? I know Local Nac. use mostly C/O Ka and DPS use of course I/O Ka on 59 but Laser in deep East Texas? that would seem very unusual to me.
