    Default 1st V1 Save

I guess this counts as situational awareness as well.. but I was driving down RT 40 coming back from work today.. and there are areas with lots of X band activity, so I am used to it. I was driving along and I had passed my usual X band places when I heard the V1 chirp something different.. Driving up a hill, I looked up and it was K band ahead.. I have never experienced K band on my drive home so I slowed down from my 15 over to 5 over.. Sure enough.. topped the hill a little over 1/8th mile later its a Baltimore County cop sitting on my side of the road shooting east(I was going east).. I smiled and for most the way home I was ahead of him shooting constant-on K band..

My V1 definitely saved my ass today and paid for itself!! I love it!

It is really nice when you get that unexpected alert out of your "normal" alerts.

    Nice Save 8)

I'd say its more of my awareness than anything.. but the range up(and over) the hill was great as well!!

Why do you still have X band on?

Through my research(mostly on this site) I have found that Maryland(as well as NJ, a state I will travel to every once and a while) still uses X band here and there. I would rather be annoyed than get a ticket.

Besides, I just use Little L mode to mute the weaker X bands out when I am going to a place where I am familiar with the radar, in fact thats what I had it on today when I caught the K band signal. A good compromise for me.

I did have POP off, but I changed my mind, and that will probably be the extent of my programming. Sure, the X band and some K falses are annoying, but I am getting more of a feel for the detector, so I don't need any programming yet. I may get a little more time with the detector and decide to do automute, but little l mode does what I want it to do, especially with a good deal of police still running K band here. I'd rather do the "filtering" myself, rather than the detector.. even though the V1 does a pretty damn good job at it.
