Mounting high, REALLY high.
What do you guys think about building a weather-tight housing to hide a V1 under a plastic sunroof wind deflector? Totally nutty or a recipe for better radar reception? I don't think my fabbing skills are up to it but I had to float the idea for kicks.
That would work great, if you could really make it weatherproof, and if the V1 would fit underneath one of those deflectors. It would be a great stealth install for VA/DC/Canada users.
I presume you'd put something transparent in front and back for laser detection, or just rely on a jammer?
Another possible stealth location, if your car has a fake hood scoop, would be inside the scoop.

I mount mine about 12 foot from the ground in my house bus works really really well maybe a third better 8)
I actually considered doing this. I even bought a factory Saab sunroof deflector for $5 plus some other stuff at a U-pull yard. I never ended up doing anything however. The problem is that it would be glaringly obvious when standing up, since the deflector is merely tinted plastic... maybe you could paint it, and hide it inside really well. But that no good on the LIDAR.
It will be certainly better for radar but the best way to know the results are to test itI was thinking of that kind of install too, i dont know when ill be ending up trying it.
How about taking a TV antenna base, maybe 4 metres high, weld it to your roof and mount the detector on top?
Heh. You know what's funny? I was definitely kidding up until a few minutes ago. But I do need a no-cost or low-cost project until I have cash for my camera system. So, what the hell.Maybe I should start by driving around with my V1 held over my head before I go too overboard. Hey, it's dark right now...
No/low cost project? Just duct tape the V1 to your sunroof. :mrgreen: Just make sure to take it down when it rains.ops:
