Here's my set up...
Main unit mounts on visor on passenger side:
Remote is just below my line of sight in instrument bezel:
Remote mute switch is mounted on the back of the turn indicator stalk:
Here are a few pics of my V1 display as it went through the upgrade process.
The before picture (temporary solution. The location of the concealed display covers a very annoying passenger airbag light.
Here is the almost finished product after some cutting and body filler:
I am having some custom paint done to the car as well and plan to paint the console flat black. They did a real nice job on the flat black interior. It looks factory now. I really love it!!
Does it forfeit the purpose of CD if I mount it above the instrument cluster hood so I don't have to take my eyes off the road?

It looks different? Did you frame it?
The SR7 and V1 and now flush with each other, and the SR7 is behind a lens that is suppose to increase contrast. There's also another LED hiding behind that lens too. I still need to get it painted nicely but I've had a bunch of concealed display orders in the way.
