Easy to install? Or does it take time like the escort hardwiring does?

I'm pretty sure the concealed display does not have an adapter for you to tap the 12v source in your car...it still utilizes the cigarette adapter.
in that sense, I don't think its as good as the escort's smartcord...which allows you to directly connect it to you car's ignition.
Extremely easy to install. VR's website did have some information on this, but the bottom line is yes, its a very easy set-up to work with... its basically plug and play.
The display is basically a box that you plug into the accessory port of the cigarette adapter or hardwire kit. The main wire goes to the detector. It uses the standard RJ-11 or V1 power cord. Takes longer to decide where to put it and run cord than actually connecting it. Hope this helps.

This is the page for the remote audio but it shows the concealed display as well. Just omit the remote audio from the connection to main unit.
Thanks for the help everyone
I think I'm deffinatley going to get a V1 now.
I love my color concealed display from REB inc.
