Talking Wanted to Dope Slap the Guy

Not sure what the guy beside me was thinking. I pulled up to a light the other day, the guy had something about half way down the windshield mounted at about a 45 degree angle. At first glance I immediately thought Cobra, but to my surprise it was a V1. He was in little L mode, the front horn was pointing at the hood and the rear to the roof. My guess would be a former Cobra user. The light changes I had a good laugh and went on.

He obviously he never looked at any of the V1 documentation.

    Any similar experiences?

Saw a black Saab 9-5 with a V1 mounted in bottom left-hand corner of the windscreen. I swear the thing was virtually parallel with the windscreen. The front horn was pointing into the defrosting vent and, due to the curvature, it was at a 45* angle looking at it. I will take a representative pic of it when I get a chance. I just laughed, like you. Even my fiance (we are both engineers), who just thinks I'm crazy for this stuff, saw it and asked me if it does any good mounted like that with the police in front of us. I said "It makes it much harder to look forward if you're staring at the dashboard."

Maybe its my methodical nature, but why would you try to operate an electronic device without reading the manual? Now, assembling things, you NEVER need a manual for...

Even the way it was mounted it would perform better than a Cobra, so even if he was an ex-cobra owner he was safer with that V1

I saw a cobra the other day mounted behind a registration window sticker. The V1's around here are always mounted slightly higher than middle and mouted level.

I have never seen a V1 around town mounted properly, I've seen about 5 so far since I've owned mine.

Every V1 I have seen around here (not that numerous) have been mounted perfectly. Even the Escorts are mounted correctly most of the time (although people seem to mount those low instead around here).

As for the Cobras, they are far too numerous, especially in the damned university parking lots, always facing the sky.

I swear I'm going to start printing out little slips of paper that say "Please, invest in a REAL radar detector and learn how to mount it PROPERLY -- www.radardetector.net member RanEnRui" and put them on their car when I see them.

I should also make one praising those who actually have a real radar detector and mounted correctly.

Actually, the last Cobra I saw was in this red Celica (newer-ish model) with a smoking hot chick driving it. I wish we were stopped at the light, I would have chattered her up about it and advised her to buy a real RD, flirtatiously of course.

Haha I would love to have seen her response. usually they try to argue that they don't need some fancy shmancy radar locator... they dont seem to understand that it will almost never save them in time...lol.

Saw what I believe to be a passport 9500i pointed at the sky the other night. I also think it caused my V1 to false on X band.
