I'm a little confused...

I understand that there are different versions and different firmware versions for V1s but am confused about one thing. On the Valentine site the V1s cost $399, but on BuyRadarDetectors it is $499. If I buy one from the Valentine site shouldn't it be the most recent version/firmware?

Yes, Valentine should have the latest firmware. However, I've still heard they're shipping out the rest of the 3.864's, but 3.871's are making it out.

Valentine Research only sells direct. They don't use distributors. That's why you're never going to see a better price from a seller other than VR. Buy from VR.

Yes, if you buy from V1 you will pretty much get the newest version, although there where people getting 3.864 when the 3.871 was out, but there was no difference in performance, just a different board. I haven't been to buyradardetectors.com, but I'm assuming that they had to mark it up since VR doesn't use distributors, so they had to buy them at 399.99 and mark them up to make money. You would stand a way better chance to get the newest firmware from V1 then anywhere else.

Listen to the Joker. Valentine is the best place to guarantee you are getting the latest and greatest. BRD.net marks them up for sales to other countries where V1 won't ship. The reason 3.871 and 3.872 made it out while some received 3.864 is that the later versions were first released as upgrades. They still hand stock on had made with previous components. There is no difference in performance.

I would actually like to see someone test the 3.864 and the 3.872. I know Valentine says there is no performance difference but I would actually like someone to test it. They might be saying there is no difference so they don't get a hundred RD back for upgrades. I would just like to see it tested that's all, to make sure there is no difference.

I have it; in writing that there is 0/NO difference between the two. If that was the case... they would have lawsuits on them

That's good and all but I would like to actually see a real world test. And also what you have in writing does not constitute as a legal document and they could easily write it off as a tech or customer service rep that did not know what they were talking about. So really you could not sue.

I have watched plenty (millions- no kidding or exaggeration) of small claim court cases and yes a simple piece of paper can be legal even a email... (Doesn't have to be notarized in front of and signed by Mike Valentine himself to stand-up in court)

I have seen Notepad Paper w/Handwriting Analysis pass 100% for evidence...
