V1 Ghosting - Highly possible

Did some test today with the V1 using the "Highway Zapper" . To those who don't know about it, click this http://www.guidry.org/jon/traffic.html. I did it to test if the V1 will come up with multiple bogeys from a single source and it surely did. It came up with 2-3 counts in the bogey counter 4-5 times out of 10 test. Surprisingly, i had one test that was not expecting to get the outcome of that particular test. Not only did it had an X band alert but it also showed a Ka LED alert from it. It only did it once with 10 tries. I will be doing more testing on this. By the way, i did not use the modified remote lifespeed did for me to avoid furhter doubts about the test and just used the stock radar. Test was done in my subduvision with no X band source. I took pictures of it for proof of the number of bogeys shown when the highway zapper was triggered.

Can anyone with a highway zapper do the same test and see what your outcome will be with your V1? This will be interesting to know and if it is true, we need to let VR know about this. I'll also try to post the picture so all can see.

At close range, that will happen on the V1 due to signal overload, even with real X-band radar.

Also, the "Highway Zapper" isn't a good way to test for that.
It doesn't generate police radar directly, I believe the oscillator runs at 1169.44 MHz, with the 9th harmonic being at 10.525 GHz X-Band. So it is basically spewing harmonics everywhere, which I think is one reason that the FCC forced Rainbow to quit selling them. For that reason, it might actually be creating detectable harmonics in the K and Ka bands as well, just much weaker.

I experienced the overload ghosting thing today on a K-band speed sign. (Maine Turnpike southbound.) It started at 1 bogey and got up to three when I was at extremely close range. It sort of defeats the purpose of the bogey counter but I'll deal with it. The sheer detection range made up for it. They will fix it eventually.

I will try it next time with the X50 and see if it does behave the same way. That leads me to believe then that the bogey counter is useless.

My 3.813 (pre-POP) V1 often shows a Ka ghost when it's close to a real K or Ka bogey. My prior V1, a 1.7, did the same.

I'll be sending it out for a 3.825 upgrade & tuneup next week, so when I get it back I'll report on any changes in the ghosting.

my 3.821 ghosts alot! everytime i get on 1N to head to Maryland I pass a Harley Davidson shop. Some times I get 1 bogey *real* or other times like last night I got 3....

Same here, I always get a second bogy Ka two arrows but only one in the count on a real LEO, but never on a false.(This stopped happening when I had my 3.818)
Sometimes I get a second bogy Ka passing a K band speed sign. (This still happened when I had my 3.818)

kpatz, If you are not getting multiple bogies on K band then don't let your 3.813 go you will be disappointed.
If you want to try a 3.825 then just buy it for a test drive but loosing a unit that does not have this issue is not worth it.
If you are getting ghosting on K band then go for it.

Azonehits, Did you check your software using the reprogramming guide?
If not how do you know it is a 3.825?
F_399, GHZ1, RacerX, lifespeed,Kpatz,nomore 55, and of course V1 dave have used automute successfully.
If you are not doing something wrong then your unit is broken or it is not a 3.825.

I get a Ka ghost on K bogies. I never get multiple Ks on a K though.
