This is by far the best range I have gotten on my V1, 2.3 miles!!! I carried my camcorder with me this weekend on my roadtrip just in case I would be able to record some nice videos for you guys, but the dam battery was dead. No good encounters anyways. After leaving my parents house and coming back to Austin, 30miles out, I remembered that I forgot my camcorder at my parents house. I wasn't about to turn back and get it. I didn't receive any real good encounters until after the city of San Marcos, my V1 gave a weak KA alert so as always, I made a mental note of my mileage, then another weak KA alert. I immediately started scanning up ahead (night time already) and was able to barely make out the lights of a leo way up ahead. It was exactly 2.3 miles from the first alert to the point I passed DPS. He had someone pulled over and was nice enough to have left his rear radar on still shooting KA.Right there and then, I was pissed at myself that I could not have recorded this encounter to share with you guys! (A mode and very good ramp up)
Then today after work, travelling I-35 north, I picked up a weak KA alert in a known K band false area, but kept scanning the area. I wasn't speeding since it was traffic hour going about 55. Then the alert slowly started ramping up and sure enough it was APD coming in the opposite direction shooting c/o KA. It was about 1 mile from the first alert to the point of contant, so I would say its safe to it was a 2mile range alert again! (big L mode)
What makes these two great alerts is that both alerts were right before cresting a small pitch hill! I recently mounted my V1 above RVM at tint level.
V1, I love you man!!![]()
