The only time VR changes the rev # without the owner wanting an upgrade is from 3.817 and 3.818 to 3.819 because there was some kind of a bug in the firmware on 817 and 818.

(I think I've spent entirely too much time on this site... I know entirely too much useless radar detector trivia.)

Well it came around 10am, I took it out when I went to lunch and tested it on a couple local spots that I knew had falses with my V955. The V1 Picked both of them up earlier and of course more accurately depicted what each consisted of. Its amazing!

I checked the rev while I was in the car and I have 3.812. Which leads me to believe they didn't touch it, that is a much older revision, and also doesn't even fall into the categories you mentioned about having problems.

So far im ecstatic and cant wait to use it on the drive I have coming up on tuesday night/wednesday morning.

So... how do you know if your a zombie?

3.812 is a good rev. Its a pre-POP V1 which many people claim to be more desirable to the current ones with POP.

The only thing to be aware of with that detector is you should keep a close eye on it to make sure it isn't falling out of tune again. You won't get an "E" to notify you of any problems like the newer ones will. You basically just have to see if its picking up the same falses from the same distance as it usually does.

Other than that, you're golden. Don't waste too much gas driving around looking for LEOs to test it out on.

Aw gas isnt an issue anymore, heck i just got gas today for $1.54! Its like Christmas!

But yeah i know what you mean about the tune, I figure it SHOULD stay in tune for a good 2 - 3 years before another servicing will be needed, though I could be anal and send it in like every 18 months xD.

Yeah I was wondering if this revision had POP, I hadnt took the time to research it to see.

Some people send 'em in every year for a tune. I think thats crazy unless you actually notice a performance drop off.

Someone will eventually claim you're a zombie if you're starting to show. Other than that, it's up to you to determine if you're a zombie.

Your gona get the dreaded new V1 owner curse. It's symptoms are driving around allot and not encountering one radar encounter except the ole speed sign.

    Enjoy your detector.

Yeah,VR did the same with rev.3.824.They upgraded to rev.3.825 without you asking them to upgrade. This rev. had a problem with option "7" not working (Automute options "b" thru "G" not working!!!) and sometimes when ghosting on Ka-band it would report Ka-band signal as K-band.I think that rev.3.824 was the worst revision ever.
