I have had one of my main units modded. I had it modded before I sent it to Valentine for non-warranty repair, and I had no problems. I actually am so used to it that I forgot the mod wasn't factory until I read this. Excellent work and I'm very happy with the results. Highly recommended. I'll be modding my other unit too once it konks out after 5 yrs. (They seem to always go out after 5yrs of service.)

Do you think by opening the detector would effect it's performance capabilities (alerts, detection, sensitiveness, etc)?

There's always a possibility, but as careful as Languy is and with the level of equipment he has, I don't think you'll run into any issues. Still, that being said, it will void your warranty with Valentine, so I would wait until you're outside of warranty if you want that piece of mind.

I had mine modified and then sent to Valentine who changed the LEDs back to stock. So then I had it modded again right after getting it back from Valentine. I have seen no performance difference between this unit and my 2nd one which I ordered to tide me over while my other one way away. I use both detectors concurrently about 3ft apart on the windsheild and haven't noticed any differences other than those due to firmware.

Hey all, not it's not full. I am still busy, everything went ok, but right now with the hours I am working and all of the stuff to do to take care of a house and all that I'm low on time. I will start again but the only time I will be able to really work on stuff is during the weekend, that means that my times to completion will get much longer. Nothing I can do to avoid that.

languy did an AWESOME job on my CD. This was before he was moving and had more time. Was about a week from when I sent it to him, to when I got it back. Understandable that it will take longer now.
