Default V1 range vs. Ka/K Band range

hey guys, got a question. sorry if this has been asked already.

say you're driving on a really straight and flat stretch of road with no traffic. V1 picks up 1 dot of Ka/K. at that range, has the cop picked you up already?

Of course every situation is different, but no. The V1 picked up all 3 bands at a distance of over 4 miles in this range test Radar Range Test - RadarBusters.com

I would doubt it. I am hoping it more like 6 before he has me.

If it's flat enough, all high-end radar detectors would detect X,Ka and K-band at more than 10 miles away.

Have you read the manual? I'm not sure how accurate this info is, but:
What Long-Gradient audio does for you
Valentine One’s audio warning indicates radar strength.
It gives a very slow Beep for X band (Brap for K band,
Brap-brap for Ka band) when it encounters weak radar,
then quickens as radar strength increases, and becomes a
continuous tone about the time you’re in range. This long
gradient, from slow Beep to continuous tone, makes it easy
to estimate radar proximity, which is very important during
brief Instant-on encounters. In the case of multiple bogeys,
the audio warning will always monitor the greatest threat.
Active radar always has less range than passive radar. The active radar has to send out a signal, let it reflect and then pick up the reflected signal.

I've caught Ka from 6-7 miles away on a flat road.

One dot? No chance he has your speed at all, unless you have a defective detector etc. You would have all dots (or very close to it) if you were in a situation where your speed could be obtained.
