    Default New V1

My new V1 just arrived today.
I am trying to make a choice between the 9500 ix and the V1.
    Impressions so far.

Opened the box and the V1 was secure but didn't have any clear wrapping around it.
The manual was loose and a little scuffed up looking. (no plastic on it either)
Seems to be lighter by weight than the ix.

Not that it's a big deal, but so far I like the way Escort presents the product to the new customer. I had know doubt when I opened the Escort that I was the first person to unwrap everything.

The V1 sort of made me feel I was looking at the demo model they have at the front desk.

Will not have a chance to do a good road test until Monday.

Just in case you don't know, I had 95% made up my mind that I was keeping the Escort after using for 4 days, until I found out today that some folks on here were having actual LEO's locked out because of the new technology.

But I do like the fit and finish and the weight of the 9500 ix so far.
It was giving me 1.5 mile warnings on K band. Seemed pretty quiet.

But at this point I am still very neutral. I am hoping the V1 knocks my socks off!

    Thanks

Both are great detectors. The V1 has only one flaw, it falses, but no more than the ix. They both see the same signals the GPS features just allow the ix not to alert. The V1 beats the ix hands down on laser sensativity, but that will probably only tell you you were targeted, with the ix you won't know until the blue lights come on behind you.

The V1 also has the arrows and bogey counter. I love these features and don't know if I can live without them. I tried the ix once before but could not do without the arrows. I hated getting an alert and not knowing if it's in front of me or behind me.

If you can turn x band off and pop off where you live and use the K band muting features on the V1 in little L mode, the V1 is pretty darn quiet. It might make the decision a lot harder than you think. If you have to run x band I'm betting you keep the ix.

I paid 399.00 for a new one. Hard to tell with the way it was packaged.
The last 3 numbers of the serial seem right for a Dec 08 purchase.

It's strange because when I pick both of them up at the same time the ix feels well made and heavy. The V1 seems light as a feather. Not sure what that means.

    Plastic weighs more than magnesium?

Like cat4 said Magnesium is a very light metal and one of the lighter ones used in manufacturing today. Other things that contribute to the weight of the 9500ix that the V1 doesn't have are speaker for voice alerts all the hardware for that as well as the gps hardware this requires more items on the board also if im not mistaken it has a spec mode which would require more hardware as well. The only thing the V1 has in extra weight it the rear antennae but I think this speaks nothing to the quality of the two products.
