It sounds like Vascar, a time over distance device. More like an over glorified stopwatch using those white time lines to time your vehicle between both lines.
I just look at it this way, they're having to do this job and use this tactic in their job. There's a lot of things people do everyday in their job that crosses ethical boundries. So why do they do it? Because they have to eat, have families to support, etc. I don't take it personally anymore.
And when faced with the "how fast do you think you were going" question, my standard answer is, "I'm not sure." And when they proceed to ask me the speed limit, it may also be "I'm not sure."
It all depends on if they had an actual radar lock on me or not. If they don't, I don't give them anything that they could use against me, and then proceed to contact my attorney if they write a ticket.
Also, I take down my v1 and put it away as soon as I see that I will be pursued. I noticed they write down if you have a detector on the ticket. The judge will see that and be less lenient.
Make sure all bands are enabled. Do not take for granted that you don't have X band in your area. I did follow to disable X band before but luckily, I enable it on time before I got busted by a local deputy cruiser. Also make sure your V1 is not out of tune and always double check your unit if it works with different radar bands from X to Ka band.Originally Posted by stugatz

I use X and K door openers in my area along with two k band stationary mounted school “your speed is” sign s to check daily if there is any degradation in V1 performance.
I don’t have any Ka alert producers in the area except for just a couple Ka wielding Leo’s (Charlotte is predominantly K band). I rely on the V1 “E” alert if anything is heading south with Ka detection. Although I did have a plain dark blue wrapper try and tag me from behind for about a mile with Ka last week, I got a good idea Ka was working just fine!
To the OP, looks like the Leo was hoping to have you fess up, since you were doing 70 and he comes across with a 100 mph statement, no VASCAR there, just trying to trick you since he didn't have a real reading, figured you were over the PSL by observation.

I don't have any stationary sources other than X.Any other tests besides the real thing?
I live in Fort Wayne and go to school in South Bend. I've driven 30 HUNDREDS of times. My sister lives in Columbia City. I can promise you that it wasn't Vascar. They don't have the funding for that right now. I can promise you it wasn't Laser because Fort Wayne PD (local) uses the only 2 lasers within 60 miles on the 469 interchange. I can promise you it wasn't X because Columbia City upgraded all of their devices to K in 2001 and I can promise you it wasn't Ka because your V1 didn't go off. Conclusion: You clocked yourself for that ticket. I'm not sure if you regularly drive 30, but if you would like I'd be happy to pin-drop a google map with the standard 4-5 spots they always sit. Shoot me an e-mail.

you know.. even if you tell them the speed on the speedo, it is calibrated to show a faster value than actual?
save your GPS data (i always record), and bring it to court.
