    Default Purchasing a V1

Hello guys, I have been doing a lot of research on detectors and I am considering the V1 for my radar needs, and the LI for my laser needs. I live in MI, and have not seen many lasers in use, just a lot of radar.

For the V1, how come the price is around $750 on amazon but only $400 on the manufacturers site, and is there any difference between the two?

Also when I buy the unit what software number should I look for, and is the software updateable?

Doesn't matter, probably some overseas sells. Just buy direct from Valentine. Check Ebay or any other sells then add the upgrade and it just isn't worth it. You will get a new V1, latest version with full warranty. And it is always 399.00. At least for now.

    That's exactly what I use.

VR does not ship overseas, so some people buy them, mark them up a bunch and sell them overseas. Just buy it directly from VR, you get a 30 day trial. If for some reason you don't like it send it back and get something else.

Thanks, I will buy it off there website, I just thought that maybe there was some special features in the V1 at amazon.

I just saw the 30 day money back guarantee once I clicked on their store page. Once I purchase I will install, throw a couple pics up, and see how she runs.

If I take it to VA, where it is illegal, should I just unplug it, or is possession illegal as well?

Do you go to VA often is so you might want to think about the STi. If not I just put my V1 on top of the console and leave it there out of site. If I see a LEO or get an alert I unplug it and close it up in the console. I think it's about $75 ticket if you get caught.

    ^^^

x2, VA seems to be more of a 'slap on the wrist' policy, but if it is an area you frequent often, the Sti is the way to go (In the dashmount category).

Why is the STi better in VA than the V1? size?

Radar detectors are illegal in VA. The STi is undetectable by Radar Detector Detectors.
