Default Custom V1 bracket in WRX

Here in my install. Used a piece of abs plastic, some 2 part plastic weld and suction cup bracket. Used clear 3m heavy duty double stick tape (so strong I almost need a heat gun to remove it.) Took a little work to get the ange perfect but it came out well. The V1 could not be higher, and more level. Clear rear view too. Called Valentine Research and they said that the black ceramic dots wold most certainly NOT effect radar performance at all. Laser performance might be slightly reduced but I have been hit over 5 times and it always goes off. I am planing to do a LI laser jammer/detector so the V1 will be redundant for laser.

Factory "CRUSE" kill switch (from 02 WRX) next to factory fog switch.

Remote display will be mounted in clock pod, gonna move clock over to the left and have both in the same pod.

The mount looks perfect but I'm very picky about the front antenna being in front of the metallic tint. I still don't trust it.

Would it be absolutely terrible to fore-go the suction cup all together? Do you not plan to keep the car that long? I like the install for sure, though.

The dot matrix sun shade that you are calling "metallic tint" is not metallic at all. It is ceramic which would not effect radar detection.

Do you mean forgo the suction cup mount? I am not using suction cups at all as you can see. I thought about going totally custom, but why? This looks great, and it is super easy to remove the V1. Also anyone who is ok with their hands could make one. The only tricky part was feathering out the plastic weld to get the right angle (or wedge shape) on the part that the bracket is glued to.

Ahhh, I guess I didn't see it properly. I thought that you had permanently attached a plastic piece to the windshield and attached the V1 to that with the suction cups(and mount). My mistake. I very nice install, sir.

great mount! Does the glue/tape damage the roof liner at all?

Do you mind posting more pics if the WRX though (new thread in "car talk")? .
I'm shopping for a bugeye (yours is an 02/03, right?) and love their looks .
