Default Hardwire routing of wire question?

I will be trying to hardwire my V-1 and remote display and would like to ask for assistance for the procedure of wiring. I have a tendency of breaking locks, pins, etc and would like to get this right the first time.

My first question is what is the proper routing of the rj-11 line to avoid interupting the Airbag deployment? Is it safe to remove the A-pillar panel? Lastly, did you guys remove the weatherstrip/rubber along the door frame?

    Route 1:

    Route 2:

    Route 3:

    Thank you in advance.

I did route #1 with my install. I wouldn't think a little RJ-11 wire would be able to stop the force of an airbag being deployed for route #2. Also with my install, I didn't have to remove anything- the little wire should be able to be shoved in between the glass and the pillar. Use a CD to help.

When I did my V1 hardwire I pulled off the A-pillar panel and ran the wire underneath. After removing the panel it's easy to see where the airbag is so you can route the wire to not interfere with it. Plus, there are clips you can tuck the wire into.

First off, do you have side curtain airbags? If so don't follow the steps below because I've never dealt with them.

Ok, route 1 and 3 are essentially the same. When you pop off the A-pillar, there will most likely be an opening straight under the dash. So you will probably end up using #1.

Taking the A-pillar off is simple. There is slim to no chance that you will deploy the airbag since the collision sensors are around the body of your car and not right where you're working. I'm not sure how similar the process is for your car, but what I did was take a flat head screwdriver and slid it in between the pillar itself and the pillar cover. Then you just need to apply even pressure along the edge of the cover until it pops off. When I hardwired my V1, this was the most nerve racking step.

Place the wire, then simply pop the A-pillar back on.

Keep in mid that this was the process for my car and it may be completely different for your car. So I'm not liable. For Anything.

I'll be going route 2. I've allready got my cheetah mirror wired that way and It looks wuite neat I think. The only part of the wire you can see Is the inch or so going Into the mirror.

Wouldn't it be wise to disconnect the battery and disable the airbags via a fuse if there's one before starting an install involving side airbags?

Indeed disconnect the negative terminal off your battery for at least 30 minutes before messing with any airbags.

I removed the trim from the A pillar and routed the wire inside. There was already a bundle of wires in there so I just fished the new one down next to them.

Just use an old credit card or movie rental card to help push the wire under the a pliar trim. No need to take if off.
