    Default 9500ix user, going V1

Yeah, I finally decided to take the initiative to try and sell my 9500ix so I can take a chance with the V1. If all goes well, I should have my V1 sometime next week. Any suggestions or advice?

I find myself all too often getting an alert and taking my eyes off the road to find the LEO, which really isn't too safe, and I don't like to guess. And with the way cops are around here, I don't know if I can trust AutoMute or any of that stuff. Seems like the bogey counter can do just fine with that. I also like how the V1 has the volume controls as knobs on the front of it. Very easy to adjust if it gets chatty.

The arrows and an accurate bogey counter do make a huge difference. The kick arse sensitivity does not hurt either

I think you are going to miss how quiet the ix can be which why am considering trying an ix as well. But I am almost convinced to keep the v1 though.

I've had my share of noisy detectors. I think I can compensate noise for reliability. I just think my girlfriend is going to be very annoyed by it. But who cares? It's my car and my protection

I know i would, and i prefer the simplified bogey counter (Expert mode w/voice). But the arrows and the V1 being close to the 9500ix sensitivity is certainly a nice advantage. Though i love the GPS features of the ix, a GPS mirror can be added to the V1.

How come there are some people on here say the 9500ix is just as sensitive as the V1, while others are boasting about how much better the V1 reception is? Unless RLCs/Speed cams are coming to Central NY, I don't think I really need all that extra stuff.

2 things, considering all factors the V1 only has a slight edge over any top RD. There is also variance for RD to RD so it can also go ether way.

IMO the 9500, STi & V1 all have the same sensitivity, its how they filter and the design of them that make them different.

Its like people complaining about the 9500 or even the V1 missing quick trigger pulls. The delay on the 9500's is so small and the chances of a LEO doing it are so small it doesn’t really matter. Weather you own a V1 or a 9500 you will be happy until one of us crazy hobbyists/enthusiasts get into your head and plant a seed of doubt.

Its all good in the end though.

Based on my experience, the top radar detectors are all very close. I had a 1.7 V1 that I upgraded to a new 1.8 3.864 V1, and 9500ix and a 9500ci. Based on my testing I'd say the CI has notcibily more range, but the others are all very close to the same. If I had to rank them the 1.7 V1 would be next follwed by the IX and the 3.864 last, but all so close I wouldn't worry. If choosing IX or V1, do it by the features not the range since I think they are close enough to eliminate this from your decision. You just have to decide if you like arrows or GPS filtering and the right choice is up to each user.

Or you can end up like me, admit you have an addiction and own multiples to adjust for your mood and driving location. If I could wind up with a 9500ci and a V1 in every car, that would be my ideal setup.

They're neck and neck, with the V1 holding a slight, but noticeable edge that just isn't terribly significant.

Where the difference is -- and where I disagree with CJR238 -- is in reaction time. It is not nearly as rare or insignificant as he implies. We're getting another new video example of it every week here. And if it's happening that often with the very few people who run dash cams and dual RDs, then the number of times it is happening in the real world, to people who have no idea what happened, is going to be pretty shocking. It is easily reproduced in testing, so it's not an off-the-wall theory. It simply doesn't matter how good your sensitivity is if your RD is suppressing the alerts. Nine times out of ten, the 9500 misses quick trigger. Nine times out of ten, the V1 does not.
