this is why i do not believe in automute.. depending on the position of your v1, you probably detected the K band but failed to visually see it and of course hear it.
i know a lot of guys in here use the k band auto mute function, but i do not.

yeah this makes me think twice about auto mute
maybe i should use small L rather then Big L
I second that. I don't understand why some V1 owners would activate their automute programing and on top of that, i don't even understand why Mike V put it in their to automute in the first place after the fact a radar source is activated. I can compare it with the "J" alert thing - tells you after the fact a radar source is triggered. It only takes less than 3 seconds or even shorter to get a good reading with instant on. When you automute K band, you surely will be prone to having a ticket. I use my V1 for interstate driving only and it's a charm. It surely does the opposite in city driving.Originally Posted by Brent_Vino

To some people using automute might seem extreme however once you have experienced being hit with a full tone instant on blast on K band every few seconds or minutes by drone radar on our bay area freeway system when at least in CA the highway patrol uses Ka only, this could very well turn out to be the best option ever developed as you can totally silence K band volume only, and still see the LED's from the drones hitting you in the front and back if you choose.
(E) & (F) should only be used together if you believe K band is not a threat or you are in a drone infested area and need to make K band quiet.
If this option did not exist or someone was using another brand of RD that alerted initially then auto muted several seconds later under these conditions it would be too irritating. You would have to select K band off.
Turning off or turning down the volume on any RD would block alerts from X, Ka, Ku, laser.
yan_750i should have simply switched to (A) mode, bumped up muted volume or been more cautious with his speed especially at that time of the morning as I don't believe Central Expressway has drones yet.
To some of you that don't drive much I can see why you want every known alert.
Personally I drive over 1000 miles a week and find the V1 automute a blessing. Did I say blessing? I velieve I did!![]()
heh, not at all.Originally Posted by crazyassazian

and yeah, i been getting into habit of going into (A) mode in the city and into lower-case (L) mode on freeway. but (A) mode is still falsing a lot on K-band around city, so maybe i'll bring the muting down to 3 seconds and keep it in lower-calse (L) mode?
