Default Thinking of V1 "Down the road" - Any BIG improvements expected in the next year?

    All,

Currently have a 8500 X50 that I am happy with, but after reviewing the forums here, it is decised that I am looking for the BEST range possible and false alerts are secondary. The 8500 X 50 does have some great range and close to ZERO false alerts, but the V1 always seems to be the best in range for everything (pending redlines results.)

I am looking to get one sometime in 2010 (as my 8500's warranty will run out and I expect to pay off some big bills and have a little extra treat $$$!) The big long term question I have is there a major upgrade to the V1 expected sooner, later, never? I understand there are cont. software developments, etc, but am keeping my eyes open to see if there is a better time to buy a new in the next year.

    No hurry on this! Thanks!!!

    I see two questions:

(Basically) What RD is the most sensitive?

    AND

Is VR coming out with something new and big on the V1?

To which I can only reply:

They guys are being hard on you, but it's only because nobody here has the answer to either of your questions.

Getting intel from Valentine Research is just about impossible.

Ah. Beating a dead horse, Funny!

Answer makes sense. This forum seems to be the best place to gain this kind of knowlege, but I'll wait and see!

I would venture to guess if anything happens at VR it'll be released before the arrow patent runs out. I believe it's in 2012.

We never know what is coming from V1 till it hits the press. I would wait till GOL post their test and select a RD based on you needs.

Close to zero false alerts? The 8500 X50 off axis detection is far less sensitive than that of the V1 however there's still a large amount of K falsing on the device. The misconception is that falsing is a bad thing, when the reality is that real LEO's run radar on the same K band frequencies as the local Wal Mart auto doors. I'll take city chatter any day, as when I hit the highway I'm confident that I'm protected.

Go with the V1, you'll be happy you did...Although it may take some time to get used to the heightened off axis sensitivity.
