Default Is Big L mode safer than a 9500ix with Autolock on?

Really don't want to fiddle with detector every time I get on and off highways.

Eventually I'll be lazy or forget.

V1 does better according to most objective tests. But that testing is usually in "chatty mode" (A mode).

How would a V1 in L mode stack up to a less sensitive quiet detector like 9500ix.

In L mode it sure is quiet.

I had X off, automute K up to 6 lights, rear K off and was beeping and bopping like crazy. In L mode it completely quieted down.

The automute for 30 seconds I find not too helpful (better than nothing for sure). I don't know about you but 99% of the busy traffic lights where all the K band false tend to be takes WAY longer than 30 second to get through. Every time I need it, it exceeds 30 seconds easily.

I assume escort must have a patent on automute (in the other direction, i.e. alert me and be quiet on it's own).

It depends on the threats in your area. If its K you better have your bogey counter down. Advanced Logic mode has no effect on Ka.

What do you mean by "bogey counter down"?

You know the counts, have it clear view?

I mean you better know how many threats should appear on the bogey counter at any point on the road. When I driving through a commercialized area with several door openers the bogey counter usually goes between 4-9. I've never payed enough attention to tell what and were how many falses there are in some areas. So if a LEO is there shooting K I may have a problem. The 2nd to last sentence probably doesn't make sense.

Advanced Logic mode DOES effect K if you have K automute on (it supresses instead of mutes in Big L mode).

Oops Edit: Typo meant to type K not Ka.

The better bet (at least in my opinion) is to use 30 sec K band automute unlocked at 4 LEDs with the automute turned all the way down. That way, I still get every alert, just visually instead of audibly. If I see the alert in an area I don't usually get one, I know somethings up. It's worked very well for me over this last year with K band being the main radar threat in my area.

That's exactly what I have concluded myself, thanks.

There is no reason to be deaf and blind when you can be just deaf if you want to.

My conclusion is don't use Big L with K Automute.

I'm gonna run as you suggested and then try Big L again with K Automute off.

    Which option is Ka automute?

Sorry that was a typo. I meant Advanced Logic mode does effect K if you have K automute on.

There is no option for KA automute as you should be paying attention to all KA alerts. It does suck that there's no automute for X band though. I can't turn it off because Ohio still uses it, and I've encountered it a couple of times, but they're few and far between.

Also, in my previous post a couple posts up, I forgot to say run in regular logic mode, but I think you guys knew what I was saying, LOL.
