Truely a V1 save, or Blinder?

The cause
Here is my story... Yesterday on my silver Jetta, the alternator went bad so i had plans to take my black Jetta in to work this morning. Woke up, got ready, i planned to head out at 7:30 when the car wouldn't start. I'm thinking are you KIDDING ME!!! It appeared to be the battery so i swapped battery's from both cars...

The save
Enraged with the current events, i take to the street headed for work, going 75 in a 45. As i approached a slight hill at the intersection of GA-138 and Pine Log Rd, i received some scatter from the v1 and started to slow down. I looked around to see if there was an Infinity around and a split second later, i get a full blast of laser alert from both the v1 and blinder. It was Rockdale County finest speed traps, in the RAIN! He was parked at the entrance of a cemetery... Had it not been for the v1 and blinder, he would have been digging my grave, he he...

Who deserves the save?
V1 or Blinder?

Probably both, I doubt you had slowed enough not to be a victim by the time the Blinder's fired.

If you were slowed to PSL (or at least something reasonable) when the Blinder went off, then credit the V1 with the save.

If you were still in ticketable territory when the Blinder went off, then both the V1 and Blinder contributed to the save. The V1 for the scatter hit (I bet the rain helped here), and then the Blinder to ensure you had enough time to slow down.

It's funny how fickle laser can be, sometimes my m47 picks up scatter before my v1, but in your case it was the reverse. I would credit the v1 if you slowed down to a reasonable speed before your blinders fired.

I would say the Blinder deserves the save. Based on your story, I'm guessing you were still over the PSL quite a bit when you ran into the laser trap.

snoopyc4, i was dangerously well over the PSL. I think you both are right. Thinking back, I started to slow because of the v1 alert however i don't believe i slowed down PSL or was out of "ticketable territory" ( I think RD.net should add that to their list of abbreviation ticketable territory = TT ). And kpatz, if the rain truely had something to do with the save, that's AWESOME!

If the rain was heavy or misty enough it could have easily scattered the beam, making it easier for your V1 to pick up early.

It would also reduce the range that the LEO could lock in your speed. Do you know about how far you were from him when you were shot?

Roughly 300-400 feet away. It's pretty awesome Mother Nature is a type of countermeasure.

Hey, I'm just wondering what the difference is between laser scatter and a full-blown alert. Does scatter consist of a quick, or periodic laser alert tone?
