Guys who experimented with Ka Guard...

I tested my V1 today with Ka Guard On/Off today.

Things I've noticed:
With Ka Guard On and a Ka signal is alerted too, 99% of the time it's an actual LEO.
With Ka Guard Off (forward facing over the hill test) I did get better range, a few hundred feet (only tested once.)
The Ka falses with Ka Guard Off seem to come in sets of two.

Just thought I'd share my personal experience. I'll leave Ka Guard On. I want it to be a legit LEO when a Ka alert comes up.

Yeah, but isn't ka guard on slow at Q/T? Or is it the other way around? I saw a video of it but can't find it.

You are thinking of the lag between detection and an alert.

Ka guard on induces a little lag before it alerts but the V1 catches QT and alerts with ka guard on just fine.

I've never had my Ka guard off, and my 3.864 is almost flawless on QT. It would be hard for it to perform any better. But once it comes back from the tune-up, I definitely plan to try it.

I've been experimenting with my V1 also. With Ka-Gaurd off, I get more falses. I figure that the falses are coming from other people's radar detectors because nothing else was around except for another vehicle passing me, or perhaps behind me. In order to see if I could receive a J alert, I have also been driving around with POP off. I don't yet see any difference with POP off though, as I am not getting any J alerts. POP on seems to make my V1 more sensitive (I'm not sure which bands, K, Ka, or both). I am going to do some more tsting with POP off to see if I get J alerts. I will probably switch back to POP on and Ka-Guard on. As long as we figure that having Ka-Gaurd on doesn't affect the V1's sensitivity to QT or I/O, I will turn it back on to relieve myself of the annoying falses.

POP on and off is what affects QT detection altough only proven on QT frequencies , nobody has tested it on the other freq

Is POP detection only for the Enforcer and BEE III made by MPH, or does it also detect other guns? Are the MPH guns used in NYS? Why does POP affect I/O unless they are the guns made by MPH?

Yes, in POP mode, it will still find I/O by other companies. It's just that POP is only made by one company. That does not mean that it will only find a POP gun.

i switched my KA guard off on my trip from houston to college station. Things ive noticed so far....

Falses on KA band were high. I usually get a 2 led KA alert for couple seconds and then stopped. initially i didnt know if it was a initial instant on alert or was it a false. And this happened a lot during the 1.5 hour trip. At one point was on this one lane highway, Had a GTO right in front of me and i got about 15 "2 led KA alert and stop". I noticed he had a detector on his windshield. It was def a cobra and the signal usually jumped to 3-4 leds when i'm right on his bumper.

This kinda annoyed me. so i switched it back to default when i got back to my apartment. Did anyone have similar experiences with the V1 falses.
