If so how often do you get it?
I was under the impression the warning is rare but after two weeks and about 2000 miles nothing.
I am bummed as I was looking forward to it once in a while.
I know for a fact that the new unit has falsed on other units.
Yesterday one was in a parked car, signal was so strong I thought it was a K band speed trap down the street.
My unit seems to have other issues my V1.7 does not. Multiple bogies up to four on some K band speed signs when I know for a fact that there is only one signal in the area.
Sending it back for a complete diagnostic check up.
I really want to keep it but if it proves nothing wrong I will stick with my V1.7 for now.
Asking the how often question to VR sales, will let you all know.

I get the Junk alert ABOUT once every two weeks. Personally I could not be happier with my unit. I have bene MUCH happier ever since I kept it on "L" Advanced Logic. AWESOME detector!

I have gotten the junk alert once in the 2 months i've had mine. I've seen close to 2000 miles of road.

When I was attempting to compare the performace of the RD850 [against the V1] the J-alert came on once to a Ka alert every time shortly after power-up.

I assume that the RD850 fell into this classification [by the V1] and if effectively eliminated it out with its filtering.

When I spoke to VR, they had indicated that the frequency of this happening will likely increase noticeably during the spring/summer season as people tend to drive more for holiday [with radar detectors with inferior shielding.]

This sounds very plausible - and while the newest V1 may tend to false more frequently to K - its advanced Ka filtering may become more pronounced during the summer months and become an even greater contributor to it's silence [in Ka falsing] relative to other detectors.

If this bears out to be true, the V1 would likely be our first choice for driving during the warmer seasons.

I look forward to confirming this behavior and will happily share my experiences.

Hey, they make different tyres for winter and for summer.

Why not the same for radar detectors?

Perhaps VR, Bel, or Escort can make an operation mode for winter and summer?

I don't think they'll go for that, though!

There is never a reason to not drive with the V1 in "L" mode.

sure there is, when your driving through a city that uses X band and you want a 5 mile warning

Or when you're on the highway since there's no need for the L mode there anyways.
