Default Audio to colored LED (mainly motorcycles)

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGNthxV5m7Q"]YouTube - Visintine1[/ame]

Note the video has been squished by youtube - you might want to try the HD version. The LED is perfectly in sync with the tones and doesn't stay on and there is no perceivable delay to turn on.

First draft, and I'm using a big board - I think I can make the whole thing so that it would fit on my goggles (with an earbud style cable, about 1x1.5cm).

    Beep (X) is red,
    Brap (K, Ka) is Yellow,
Laser is red/blue flash (follows the tones)
    New Bogey is Green (double-flash)
    Junk is Green, Blue, Red.

I can tweak the colors, but there are only four basic tone-waveforms the V1 produces, the "J" has each in descending order, and the Brap is 4 cycles of Beep (X) followed by 4 cycles of a higher frequency thin pulse. The first three I just turn on red, blue, or green, and if I see the Brap, I add green to red which should already be on.

There is more internal stuff going on internally, but any design ideas?

    Anyone else interested in one?

Cool idea there! Did you use a microcontroller to interpret the tones?

You could read the V1's serial data line to access everything shown on the display, including the band indicators, arrows and bogey counter if you want your LED to show more information than it can glean from just the audio (you might need a few more LEDs in that case...)

    1. Yes, that is an "arduino" under the LED, but it will probably be an ATtiny25 for the real one.

    2. Been there, though not with an LED style display :

The more general problem is the optics to allow an on-goggle display, or some kind of HUD.

Of course one idea would be to colorize a more standard remote display by the beep.

me too, one led is too confusing to me with all of the different flashing colors and that is the last thing you need when you are being targeted.

Off topic but I think my new 3.872 is broken. You just used a regular IR remote to set off laser?

I have used several at point blank and it stays quiet

You have to know where the sensor is and not all remotes work - it is where the the ambient light sensor is on the panel, or the side away from the cord on the back.

try using the concealed display, plug the CC in and point the front of the V1 at the CD "A" indicator (has to be near it within 1/2 inch), that will make laser activate.

I can split out the LEDs easily, but I'm not sure why two different color leds flashing apart are different from one LED flashing two discrete colors. No one to my knowledge has asked for stereo beeps or has complained that they are confusing and I'm literally repeating the discrete tones with corresponding colors.

Beyond that, does the Cheetah have a bogey counter or junk flash pattern?

And it looks a bit large to mount on my goggles. Doing it wireless would not be difficult, but then you need batteries so unless I can switch to LCD somehow it would need to be much larger.

try other remotes not at point blank range or a laptop screen.
