Default Anyway to mount a V1 in grill or front of the car?

Anyway to mount a V1 in grill or front of the car? I'm running a 9500ix now and I'm thinking about switching to a remote detector. I'm considering the STI-R and 9500CI but all the other remote detectors have QT problems. I want to minimize any temptation to break into my car because I keep a gun the glove box and would hate to have it stolen, I have a concealed carry permit.

Why not take the gun with you when you leave the car? Then if you catch someone breaking in to steal your V1, you can scare the cr@p out of them.

V1s aren't waterproof, mounting them in the grill can be a bit of a problem. If you could fashion a box that's completely waterproof, it could work with a remote display and remote audio adapter.

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Visor-mount the V1 so it can't be seen from outside the car. Stick it in a pouch.

Lock up the gun so a thief can't easily get their hands on it. Or rig it so that if someone breaks into the car, they get shot.

I running a 9500IX right now and love the GPS, I also ordered a M-27 but I'm wanting to upgrade to a remote system or semi hidden system. I could visor mount the 9500ix or run the V1 with a cheetah 100. I have a hard time putting the money and work into a detector that doesn't pick up QT but I love GPS and truelock of the 9500ix.

The easiest way would probably be to use the visor mount and take the V1 down when not in use.

I would also recommend finding a way to lock your firearm to your car. For example: run a cable lock through the trigger guard and the bottom of the drivers seat.

Even if you could mount it behind the grille, that would reduce its effectiveness by being so close to the ground. You want to mount it as high as possible.
This is why the visor mount is usually very nice, in most cars, and why the windshield mount, when used, should be high up next to the mirror (not down just above the dash). And, of course, you would have no warnings from the rear of the car, either, and you are paying a lot for that feature.

I don’t think I would leave a firearm in a glove box, too easy to evaporate. I also have a CC and have installed a small gun safe in the trunk bolted to the floor pan. The safe does a great job of protecting the gun and / or the V1 when I cannot take it with me. The safe runs about a buck and a quarter in the firearm stores around here.

That way you can run the V1 high and hardwired and still have a safe place to store it.

Unless I'm mistaken wouldn't mounting the V1 in the grill of a car pretty much totally kill the rear facing antenna thus pretty much making the arrows on the V1 useless?
