    Default problem hardwiring

I installed the hardwire kit for my v1 today. I ran a regular phone cord. When everything was done. . . The v1 wouldn't power up properly..... so I figured I had a bad connection. Well... I had to got to work...so I decided to just plug the phone cord into the lighter adapter, and the same thing. So I unplug the phone cord and plug in the coiled cord from valentine, and everything is fine. It seems that the phone cord is not allowing enough current to pass. Any ideas?

Some phone cords are not wired the same on both ends. They swap wires on one end of the connector.

I don't believe that to be the case. If the wiring were wrong I wouldn't expect it to be getting any power

+ and - are reversed. I did it with mine, V1 made strange noises and kind of hummed.

It's easy to check, just take the two ends and look at the colors on each oin and see if the match up.

Are you using the hardwire kit that came with your V1? I'm about to hardwire one myself so you're my guinea pig

Make sure you have the right polarity, you can use a multimeter to check...
