Question Few Questions - Loving my V1

I purchased my V1 new about a year ago and I love it! It has saved me countless amounts of time. When I head to the dunes around here it's at a slight slant up for 15 miles straight. At the dunes I can have my radar going off all the way into town... WOW. I've driven close to 22,000 miles with this V1 and I've been warned 100's of times. I decided to come back here and read up some more and I have a couple questions. I should of read more before hand.

I use the Logic mode. I've never seen a cop use X band in my town nor from Idaho to California. I'd say 95% of the time the cops here use Ka and the other 5% is K. Occasionally I get the laser going off. No matter what it's a full signal. I've yet to see the copy with it though?

    What is POP?
Who actually needs a tune up?
    What are some signs?
What do you mean when your radar ghosts a band?
I read something about temperatures causing you a need to get a tune up... What do you mean and what temperatures?
A lot of people said they prefer 3.86 more than 3.872. Howcome?
When I go to the V1 site it says I have the most up to date version. Does this mean I have 3.872? It only says "V1.8—POP2 with Euro Mode." How do I find which REV I have? I bought mine back at the end of JAN of 09. SN - 9050940989
    What's Ka Guard?

    Thanks a bunch!

If you are commuting thru California, then you'll need a laser jammer. I've seen too many videos of CHP shooting laser. Your V1 won't save you from that.

    What is POP?
Read the sticke threads. I'm sick of answering this!

What do you mean when your radar ghosts a band?
Ghosting means the V1 displays another signal on the Bogey counter when there is only one. So, say there is one LEO running Ka band. If your V1 displays a two instead of a one it ghosted. My 872 sometimes does this:

I read something about temperatures causing you a need to get a tune up... What do you mean and what temperatures?
I you leave your V1 out in the sun or in cold weather, it may start to have an effect on your detection range. This is what happened to one of my friend's 3.864s and its range was severely reduced compared to the other V1s we tested.

A lot of people said they prefer 3.86 more than 3.872. Howcome?
I think you mean alot of people prefer the 3.813. I own both but I prefer the 872.

I think you have the 872. Here is how you check:

    What's Ka Guard?
Ka guard provides filtering against other RDs that leak Ka such as Cobras. Turning Ka guard off though supposedly increasing your range against Ka band but also increases the amount of Ka falses you get.

Cool thanks a ton for the answers. My radar detection stays in my truck from temperature ranges of -20 to 115. Which is a pretty high and low range. I haven't noticed any reduction in distance just yet though. Nor have I seen it ghost yet either. I'll check tomorrow whats setup. Everything is set default right now with big L set.

Snoopy pretty summed it all up. Turn off the X band since it's not used and enjoy your V1
