Mine goes in three vehicles, my personal car currently 93 Caprice LTZ always visor mounted with concealed display in the ashtray direct wire to ignition accessory. When the sun is in my eyes I raise my electric seat all the way up.
I believe this is a good way to conceal it and LEO does not even see it if you are pulled over for something else. Kind of resembles a garage door opener anyway.
Family Expedition is windshield mounted at dash level direct wire to ignition accessory. Considering going next to rear view mirror, not for range but concealed and easy mute button.
Peterbuilt work truck is duct tape to dash with a rag over it, lighter plug for fast removal.

I'm pretty sure it can be mounted so long it is within six inches from the highest part of the windshield. Same as the windshield tint law.

I'll use visor mount if I'm using someone else's car or a rental (don't really wanna leave suction cup marks), but it's harder to see the visual display if it's mounted way up on the visor.
i thought it was illegal in CA to have it mounted on the windshield...to have anything mounted on it for that matter (not specific to a rd). i dunno did i really just dream that up?

I have never used the visor mount. My V1 is suction cupped just below the mirror smack dab in the center of the windshield. Am hoping this position will give rear view protection /alert, to the maximum extent possible. Drive safely and happy motoring.

    Default Not me..

I use niether of the sorts in My Saturn. I have it held in position by my CD case holder. This helps keep the pring eyes of LEO or the stelmate driver next to me knowing that I would be his/her rabbit. Only when possible do I, high and out-of-sight run either. I also use kitchen liner if I place the unit on the dash.

SO I guess I am the universal guy.

Got my V1 today, and I've been toying with the suction cup mount. Seems to work just fine *shrugs*.

Hey Samurai please tell us how you like the V1. If you have any issues with the 3.826 firmware please let us know.
