False Laser Alert

Yesterday morning on my way to work, I was traveling down a common back road. I have driven this way to work for the past two years. I have never seen a LEO nor has the V1 every gone off... Until Yesterday.....

I was just cresting the top of a hill when my laser alert went off, I immediately slowed down and checked for LEOs. To my surprise, there were no LEO's on sight and just a few cars driving towards me. After the 2nd car passed me the laser alert went off.

I noticed that the 2nd car was a silver Infiniti SUV (i believe the FX series). To my knowledge, i believe some of the higher end versions of this car has laser guided cruise control. It would be extremely odd, if they had the cruise turn on while travel on this road but i believe it was this car that set off my laser alert.

Has anyone else come across this false laser alert from a car traveling towards them?

Hmm, I have no Idea....Could be someones brake lights or actual "sun rays" not sure if that's true, but I have heard it before.

All the time. I'm willing to bet it was coming from the Infiniti.

Probably was the Infiniti, I've heard lots about the false laser alerts due to newer cars having laser guided cruise control.

The laser part of the LCC on an Infiniti is always active, even when the cruise is not engaged, because the laser also interacts with Infiniti's "preview braking" which preloads the brake lines in case of an imminent collision. Your false alert was from the Infiniti SUV and it won't be your last.

Infinitis are the bane of every V1 owner's life. Could also have been the Sun though since it was morning.

Lol on my way to class this morning I was driving straight on and what do I see? An Infiniti FX45, but I only noticed it after my laser false!

Yep, it was the Infinity.

I've got a few on the way to work periodically and it just bugs me. Hopefully this can get sorted out some day.

I also noticed in Car And Driver the other day, there are a bunch of new vehicles that will be coming with radar based sensors. Great. More falses from the already false happy V1.
