    hardwired but i tend to turn it on and off by hand when i remove it and put it back in each day

    The V1 is all good to leave the knob turn to on. A few years back the bell units EG the 990 international would/could wipe the memory / programming if you left them on before discounting the power. This would/could happen on the power up.

    Could it damage the V1 if I leave the nob on so it turns on and off with the car. I have seen a couple of posts that say it does and a couple that say it doesn't. What's the truth?

    Yes every time I leave the car. Once I left it on and the battery drained in a week.

    I like this also! It is a great Idea!!!

    I have mine hardwired and it goes off with the car and I start the car before pluging the V1 in to avoid double start up.
