    Default First Valentine 1 trip.

My Valentine 1 came in this morning, so I got to use it for a bit. I didn't encounter any leos, except for one car with it's radar left on, which it did very well on. I was pretty surprised at how quiet it was while driving through town. I don't live in a big town by any means, but there's the everyday Walgreens, Walmart, Kmart, Rite Aid, etc. I did obviously get some K falses, but wasn't anywhere near overwhelmed. It was actually just as quiet as an Escort 8500 and a Whistler Pro, which I have used in the past. The K band muting settings really do work well, I like that feature a lot.

The only annoying thing that I did encounter were false laser alerts. I was right behind a Trailblazer for about a mile, which is what was causing the alerts I guess. I got about 6 laser alerts within that mile.

I will hopefully be able to try it out again tomorrow for a bit longer. I'm hoping I will encounter some leos to get a feel for the ramp up and what not.

Edit: I also meant to ask something: Is it normal for the V1 to run fairly hot? I noticed after about 15 minutes of driving that it seemed very warm, more so than radar detectors that I have used in the past.

Yea, it runs warmer than the Escort 8500 and Whistler because it has the magnesium case that's normal.

Mine runs pretty cool since I use the visor clip which keeps it away from sunlight. When it is hot during a hot day and my car is burning from the inside, I blast ac directly at the unit and it cools down pretty quick.

That makes sense. Today was a cloudy and rainy day, so sunlight wasn't an issue. That has me a bit worried though. I may have trouble keeping it cooled down on these 90+ degree sunny days.

the magnesium case gets how because thats how magnesium acts, it changes temperatures really easy which is why it was used for the case. the inside shouldnt be too hot. but yeah i blast my ac on it anyway.

the acceptable temp range is high anyway, 158F operating 185F stored.

as for the laser falses, i get those sometimes too. from BMW's, Trailblazers, etc. the strangest is when it randomly happens but thats just from the angle of the sun. You can technically turn laser off since the only thing it helps with is telling you when to pull over because youre about to get the ticket.

Yes the V1 gets really warm. I can only hope the electronics say nice and cool as the case takes the brunt of the heat. I've actually gotten some nasty blisters taking my V1 down in summer so be careful with it.

I don't doubt that at all. It was sunny today, and it was hot to the touch.
