Default leaving V1 in black car, with black interior, in the sun...

    Hi, how are u?

I have a question regarding leaving ur V1 in the car or not.
Isnt it a pain in the butt to keep taking the V1 down and putting the V1 up? Especially when you are doing short trips? What do you do about that? How about in the ghetto areas?
Also, what if I leave my V1 out by accident, and parked in the sun for a few hours... just like now. I forgot about it and I ran outside to take the V1 down and bring it inside... it was so hot that I couldnt even hold it in my hands!!!!
Most my driving when I'm in the city is shorter distance driving, and I drive around 4-6 and as much as 8 times a day! It has become a pain to always put it up and take it down... and when I take it down, I bring it indoors with me... to the gym, to class, to work, etc... and I have no where to put it. Some might put it in their glovebox, but whats stopping ppl (especially where I live) from breaking into my glovebox? It has happened before... MANY times before. This is why I never keep anything valuable in my car, EVER... and now the V1 is not only my most prized possession (lol) but its also my most expensive possession in the car, besides the car parts (BMW).
    Please advise.

depending on your model, you should be able to lock your glove box with your key. i do that if i'm ever in an area that is questionable.

how high do you have yours mounted? mine is right below the tint strip (black/black car) and it actually very rarely gets hot, granted i'm in south carolina. i'm also sure to park with my back (very tinted) window to the sun.

I take mine down put it in a case I got from Best Buy. Don't like leaving a $400 unit baking in the sun. Heat is the worst thing for electronics. Especially in the Florida sun.

I leave mine in the glove box locked or under the drivers seat. Don't leave it out in the sun since the internal components can get messed up.

I just got my Valentine in, and hardwired and what not just below my tint strip. The thing still gets very hot, but from what people said on here, it's fairly normal. Anyways, I have never left any of my radar detectors up, due to both the heat and theft issues. If I don't take it in with me, I normally will put it underneath my seat. It still gets a bit hot, but nothing compared to it sitting in the sun.

I actually have a camera case that fits the V1 in perfectly. I'll probably start using that when taking it down.
