Default Almost constant Laser Alert from rear - error?

Driving to work today I started getting a strong and clear laser warning from the rear. It then persisted for the next 20 minutes with only small interruptions. This can't possibly be correct as I turned down many side streets etc.. I also tried turning the unit on and off to no-avail. I will be calling customer service later today, I have had my unit for just about a year (give or take a few weeks)...will this cause an issue with my warranty? Do you guys know what error this is?

    Thanks.

could have been a fx35 or a Gmc truck cruise control false laser alert.

Thats what I thought it was at first, then it persisted all the way into my work parking lot....there were no cars behind me. This must be some kind of error...

Do you know if Valentine is flexible with their warranty dates? I might be a week or two past the one year mark.

Does it continue to alert if you put your finger over the rear laser sensor? What if you remove it from its mount and place it on the floor?

What kind of car do you have? In my M3, if I put my V1 near the factory navigation system I get constant laser alerts.

I went out to my car for lunch and it was fixed....interesting. Yes, before I tried covering the rear reciever and it had no effect...was like my unit was just fritzing out.....strange this hasn't happened to anyone else before.

Also, I have an M5...it could be the nav?

So I was driving to work again on Friday....same thing happened at nearly the EXACT same spot on the highway!! The alert continued for the rest of my drive (15 mins) and into my work parking lot! The drive home was fine, just as last time. I also drove this weekend with no problems....very strange.

Any guesses as to what this is?

Probably, happened on mine. In a 1st gen Prius I cut and taped an index card to block direct line-of-sight to the screen - no more alerts. Except real or CHMSLs. Works on the BMW and other cars with a screen like those.

If the V1 gets bumped too far then the falses return until I re-align it, just reach up and twist it a little

its an e39 - I called valentine today and they told me I could send it in, but she wasn't clear if it would cost money or not "we have to see it before we will know"...my warranty expired on the 7th of this month.

The laser glitch occurred again on the way to work today...in a similar spot, a bit further down the road......very strange! Moving the unit does NOTHING...it continues until I turn off the car and come back for my lunch break. Even powering down the unit for a minute or so does nothing.

Help/reccomendations? Should I send it in?
