    Default Kudos to Valentine Research

Not often does one run across a company as dedicated to customer service as is Valentine Research. My 15 year old V-1 started occasionally acting goofy last week. I shipped it in with a note and a CC # last Wednesday. It came back yesterday with a n/c invoice. How often do we receive such pleasant surprises accompanying such outstanding service?

If I ever decide to add a third radar detector, it will almost certainly be another V-1.

I've experienced the same from Valentine. I had a 5 year old V1 that needed a re-tune and they refused payment.

are you the original owner of your V1? i'm assuming no real repairs were done, and it was just a retune.

what do you mean "refused payment"? did you offer to pay after they said no, and they insisted no? or did they just not charge your account despite you giving them your info... i'm sure if you bugged them a couple times to charge you, they will charge you haha.

This was directed to me, "are you the original owner of your V1? i'm assuming no real repairs were done, and it was just a retune."

Yes and no. I did purchase the V-1 15+ years ago and it malfunctioned. I do not know what VR did to the unit but the company did not charge me for the repairs.

I sent it in with a note describing the symptoms and a credit card number for them to charge for whatever they did to repair it. It came back very promptly with a n/c invoice included.

I might add that when I have questions in the past, VR representatives have always been forthcoming, pleasant and professional, ...regardless of gender.

I sent them a check for the repair and they returned it with my unit uncashed. I am the original owner though, not sure they would extend the same courtesy to subsequent owners.

Valentine is one of those unique companies that wins customer loyalty and testimony through it's deeds.

Perhaps it does extend special courtesies to original purchasers. Maybe that [partially] explains why V-1 units purchase through the 'sponsor' of this site must be returned through the sponsor for service? I dunno...
