Default New V1 owner here with one ?

    Hey guys,

I've wanted a V1 for quite sometime but could never really justify the price. Anyway, I was in a pawn shop the other day and seen a V1 in the display case. I asked the guy behind the counter how much he wanted for it and he told me $150. Sounded like a good price to me, but, it is a pawn shop so you always gotta haggle a little with em'. I asked him if he'd take $125 for it out the door and he agreed so I bought it. I think this is one of the first times I have ever gotten that kind of deal out of a pawn shop. (Perhaps he didn't know what he had?) Anyway, I took it home and ran the serial # on Valentine's website and was told that I "had their best." I'm assuming this is the most current version of the detector. Anyway, my question is this: With detectors I have had in the past, they usually will shut themselves off immediately or after a certain period of time after the car has been shut off. The V1 doesn't seem to do this. Is it ok to leave the unit on in my car when I am not in it? I just have it plugged in via the 12v outlet in my 06 F-150. Thanks everyone! Already loving the V1!

Do this and tell us what numbers pop up:

No. It will start draining your battery. Turn it off.

Also, you need to call VR to make sure the unit isn't stolen.

Ok, I'll try checking it out like that. Is putting the serial number in on Valentine's website not a reliable way to check the radar detector's version? Because according to that, I had the most up-to-date version.

That is kind of disappointing that the unit doesn't have a power save feature of some sort. Kind of a hassle to have to turn it on and off every time I get in and out of the vehicle but oh well...

I'm pretty sure the unit isn't stolen. The pawn broker knew the guy that came in and sold it.

The website doesn't tell you what specific software version you have.

That's why you hardwire it. So when you turn your truck off, the V1 turns off too.

You trust the pawn shop broker?

    Not hard:

You'll need to buy a hardwiring kit from valentine.
