make a bracket that mounts above[before?] the visor-clips(on the same bolt) and then positions the detector between them, over the rear-view mirror

a bracket, attached above[before] the visor-clip, that holds the detector right in front of the visor(clip), allowing the visor to still be used

Take the cups off and use Velcro the width of the bracket

I'd actually suggest Dual Lock with a high temp adhesive -- particularly for hotter climates like down here in Houston.

Correction: Plain Velcro on the sticky side will not hold to plastic in high heat. Scotch (Scotchmate?, 3M)makes a heavy duty Velcro for GPS/electronics devices to be stuck in the auto/outdoors, saw it in Walley World. Has anybody tested that product? It may be dual lock, looks like fingers on both sides. As the outstanding fellow Texas member stated, a glue of some sort maybe needed also.

Okay.Now I got you. This is a great idea. I will need to make a bracket that will go forward more so you still be able to "open" the visor all the way. I will think about but right now I have another project so that one is next on my list.

Temporarily blocking the view of the detector would be reasonable to me
Just needing your visor should be cautionary and cause a reduction in speed

as long as the visor can be lowered to perpendicular-to-road, I'm happy.
